Grading
The next grading date is: Sunday 17th October 2021.Dates for gradings in 2022 are:
Sunday 12th February 2022
Sunday 19th June 2022
Sunday 16th October 2022
Gradings take place every 4 months and are by invitation only. The cost of grading, which is payable in advance, is currently:
- £30 – Junior Belts
- £40 – Intermediate Belts
- £50 – Higher Belts
- £100 – Black Belt
Gradings take place on a Sunday with children and adults grading separately. Students will be tested on their ability to follow the drills taught during lessons, as well as being monitored using those skills within controlled sparring. Each grading lasts 1 – 1.5 hours depending on age and ability, with higher belt gradings of up to 2 hrs.
At the end of your grading, if you are successful, you will be presented with your new belt colour (see order of belts below). You will also receive a Certificate from the British Combat Association.
Remember to bring your red grading book and grading fees prior to grading!!

- White Belt – This is the belt colour you will start with by default
- Red Belt
- Yellow Belt
- Orange Belt
- Green Belt
- Blue Belt
- 1st Purple Belt
- 2nd Purple Belt
- 1st Brown Belt

- Black Belt
