Bernard de Beer (6th Dan)
Bernard has nearly 40 years’ experience teaching and training in various martial arts in South Africa, UK, United States, Cambodia and Australia. He has trained with the world's most highly rated professionals in the fields of Muay Thai, Krav Maga, Escrima, Applied Karate, Edged Weapons, Law Enforcement Training, Self-Defence and Close Protection. He also has specialist military training and experience and has first-hand experience of the psychology and physiology of violent confrontations. Bernard actively seeks out the best instructors in the world to be able to offer his students the most up-to-date and effective knowledge and practice.

Shannon de Beer (5th Dan)
Shannon is a Senior Instructor and Clear Mountain's Technical Advisor.
He has more than 25 years’ experience in various martial arts. He has worked security in South Africa. Shannon’s specialty is Technique Analysis: this involves breaking techniques and movements down into base components in order to improve them and make them easier to teach and learn. Shannon is a skilled fighter who is able to generate phenomenal power.Martial Arts Experience:

Simeon Berry (5th Dan)
Simeon is a registered instructor with the British Combat Association and Senior Instructor with Clear Mountain Martial Arts.
Simeon has 20 years experience in the fighting arts, including Okinawan Karate Goju Kai; Shukokai Karate; Boxing; Krav Maga and his favourite Advanced Tactical Combat. Simeon believes in regular weekly training: it's his mantra for a healthy lifestyle and preventing skill fade. Simeon is continually researching the martial arts and likes to ensure that all aspects of the syllabus can be easily and practically applied in self-defence situations.Martial Arts Experience:

Kev Moonan (3rd Dan)
Kev has over 25 years experience in various martial arts. His favourites are Jiu Jitsu and Advanced Tactical Combat. He has a strong focus on situational awareness, close quarter combat and the context of techniques. He teaches and develops an understanding of confrontation and violence, applying a range of methods to manage and understand these situations.
It is his belief that an instructor should retain the outlook of a student by continuing to study, train and learn in order to develop and improve not only themselves but also those whom they teach.Martial Arts Experience:

Joseph Kubica (3rd Dan)

John Reid (2nd Dan)
John has always had a keen interest in sports and was one of the top runners in New Zealand in his youth. He also loves Rugby, scuba diving and boating.
In 2016, at the age of 53, John joined Clear Mountain Martial Arts and began his martial arts career. By February 2020 John had become a registered instructor and just a year later he was awarded his black belt (1st Dan) in Advanced Tactical Combat.Experience:

James Robinson (1st Dan)
James started his martial arts career studying Setei-Gata techniques of Iaido (Japanese Swords). In 2017 James began training mixed martial arts with Clear Mountain. James is an intuitive student and skilled martial artist.

Amy has been training with us for a number of years after having studied Karate when when she was much younger. Amy has a particular aptitude for understanding the technicalities of techniques.
